When Planning A Meeting It’s All in the Planning….

It’s all in the planning, whether you’re arranging an offsite meeting or conference, designing an agenda, organizing a seminar or even just want to add some fun into a meeting. One of the greatest tools in communications is planning a meeting. Being prepared and gathering all the appropriate team members in the same space, with the same agenda to encourage conversations and interaction. Face to face meetings recognize and accomplish your intentions and goals at a faster, more effortless pace. And I think we can all agree, efficient and valuable meetings help build more dynamic, happier and productive employees.

Meeting participants are the name of the game. Any successful meeting of course, depends on the structure and content (content! content!) but equally important are the participants and their contribution and involvement. The preparation and development of meetings takes a great deal of time, energy and resources with the ultimate goal being success. So when planning meetings it is imperative to keep in mind those attending and a way to fully support and encourage their input.

A successful meeting doesn’t happen by accident, they happen because of good meeting planning. A good meeting delivers an exceptional opportunity to share and accomplish professional goals and assist participants in reaching those goals. Here’s an example of a meeting gone wrong, horribly wrong, thanks to our friends at Funny or Die as they share another extremely funny example of what not to do.

How to Promote an Event-the Bethlehem Edition

Christmas day, December 25, is one of the holiest days in the Christian calendar. It’s the day that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. If marketers were operating then, as they do today, the biggest question would’ve been how to promote an event of this magnitude. You see, as the story goes, Joseph and Mary were on their way to Bethlehem to pay their taxes. There was no room at the Inn (now remember this point, especially from a marketing point of view). As a last resort they were forced to stay in a manger and…, well, as they say, the rest is history.

Our friends at Funny or Die have a different take on that event. Put yourself in the position of the hotel  that turned the, now famous, couple away. In hotel terms that’s called “walking”. Can you imagine the missed opportunity of how to promote an event as the place where this son of God was born. Let’s just say the owners of the hotel didn’t take this news very well.

A word of caution – some language in the video below may not be suitable for all viewers.

Party Tip – The Holiday Office Party – What NOT to Do!

Photo courtesy of dichohecho on flickr

Time really does fly. That special time of year is here and “snap” the holiday season is upon us. The company holiday party is usually an annual occasion and is a great time to unwind and relax, socialize with colleagues and have a plain old good time. However, always important to bear in mind, though disguised as a party it remains a work situation. So never and I mean NEVER let your guard down.

While a workplace holiday party takes place when you are off the work time clock, whether the party is at the office or offsite, all the proper conduct, behavior and etiquette rules apply. There are lot of do’s and even more don’ts to consider when attending company holiday parties; what to drink, how much to devour, what to talk about, what to wear and never, ever, ever complain! Just to name a few.

The holiday office party is always planned with the best of intentions that everyone attending will have fun and an enjoyable time. So make your work holiday party a time you can look back on without cringing and enjoy this great reminder from our friends Daily Idea and Funny or Die.

Non-Event Event Planning

In the meetings and events industry it seems there’s an event for just about anything. At first glance you might not think that you even have an event worth promoting. But the folks at Non-event Event Planning can help you plan for your non-event.

This tongue-in-cheek video will hopefully give you a chuckle over just how much planning goes into non-events. While the theme here is humor I’m sure you can think of many events that you’ve attended in the past which probably should’ve fallen into the non-event event category.

We thank the folks at funny or die for continuing to provide a humorous look for everyday situations. We hope that these comical videos provide a little chuckle in an otherwise hectic day of an event planner. After all we can all use a good laugh every now and then.
