Isn’t the Easter Bunny Supposed to Make Kids Happy (Funny Video)?

Scary Easter Bunny

It’s the time of year when the Easter Bunny makes his annual visit delivering all the chocolate goodies. Setting aside the Christian aspect of the holiday, Easter is also synonymous with chocolate. And who better to deliver these delicious treats than the Easter Bunny himself, of course!

Many parents spend countless hours concocting Easter ideas for kids. Of course many of these ideas include colorful eggs (do Easter bunnies lay eggs??) and, of course, the hunt for the chocolate eggs. I seem to have an up session with the chocolate Easter eggs here, I’m realizing. Hum.

An Easter Bunny Entrance That Takes a Turn for the (Comical) Worst

The video below was setup by the parents of two small children who were, as you can tell, anxious to find out what the Easter Bunny was bringing. It’s obvious that parents wanted the element of surprise to be a large part of the Easter tradition. But, as you’ll see, the surprise didn’t quite unfold the way the parents thought.

Wedding Crasher Comedy Video

wedding crasher comedy videoWith the holidays winding down, many of us are trying to get back into the swing of things. If you’re like me and you hear that there is one more party that you have to plan for the holidays, then I’ll bet you’re likely wanting to scream.

This Video Takes Crashing a Wedding Party to a Whole New Level

I always found the first week of January a rather hard week for work. It’s not because party and wedding planning is in full swing just yet. Maybe it’s because of all the turkey that we’ve eaten over the last couple of weeks. I just find that I’m always dragging my feet more than usual this first week back.

So for my post today I thought I would present another lighthearted comedy video. You’ll get a chuckle as you watch unsuspecting helpers crash a wedding party.

Literally.

Wedding Planning; the Best of Wedding Proposals Gone Wrong (Comedy Video)

Ah the wedding proposal. It’s the time honored tradition where the man asks for the woman’s hand in marriage. At least that’s what the suspected outcome is.

With Wedding Planning It’s Assumed That the Couple Are in Agreement

I’m sure you have been to those sporting events where you have seen the Jumbotron display an unsuspecting woman being approached by her boyfriend with a small package in hand. The next thing you know he’s on his knees and she has this very horrified look on her face. And in your mind, you’re hoping that that horrified look coming from her is simply her reaction to being on the Jumbotron. Not her reaction to what she think is going to happen next.

But have you ever wondered what it would be like to witness a wedding proposal only to see the assumed bride-to-be reject what is being offered to her? Even further, what would you do if you were asked to be part of that scenario?

Wedding Proposals Generally Make Strangers Feel Happy for the Couple-Right?

In the comedy video below, supplied by our friends at Just for Laugh Gags, watch as strangers try to help surprise wedding proposals unfold. Pay particular attention to the strangers’ faces, as they soon realize that the potential brides want nothing of the sort.

All in good humor, of course.

Birthday Cake Party Planning Prank (comedy video)

Party planners know all too well that the birthday cake plays a major part of planning birthday parties. Birthday party planning often involves the element of surprise. Quite often, when planning a surprise, the opposite can happen and the surprise ends up being on the unsuspecting participants.

Party Planning Pranks Done in Good Taste Can Be Quite Funny

Who doesn’t like a good clean prank? It always seems to be that the prank is carried out on someone that is just trying to be helpful. But a prank that doesn’t insult or attack anyone is often received with humor.

Case in point. In the video below the prank unfolds as a stranger tries to help a party planner (in this case in the form of a clown) deliver the birthday goods and, in particular, the birthday cake with lit candles. Well, you’ll just have to watch the video below to see how it all unfolds…

CNN Learns How to Promote an Event the Hard Way (Comedy Video)

how not to promote an event

Whatever would we do without our 24 hour news channels? I know, maybe we get off our butts and actually get out and learn something for a change. Sorry, nothing personal here, it’s just that I’m sick and tired of these cable news channels. Anyone watching these news channels from the outside would think that we literally hate each other in the US. Maybe we do now I don’t know. But, for me, I prefer to turn those channels off for good and get my news doses in half-hour increments each day.

We all know how politicized the healthcare debate has become in the US. And as we were all waiting with bated breath for the Supreme Court’s ruling on Obama care last week (okay so the only ones waiting with bated breath were the media), the news cameras and news people were camping outside of the Supreme Court so that they could be the first to report on this landmark ruling. The reason that I’m writing this is because it really is a lesson on how to promote an event or, rather, how not to promote an event. Think about it. Would you rush an announcement from your company even before you knew if it was true or not? Of course you wouldn’t. But that didn’t stop reputable (yeah I kind of used that word loosely here) news agencies from spreading the word that Obama care was basically defeated by the Supreme Court. Except, of course, that it wasn’t. Talk about a lesson in event promotion.

The Media Needs a Lesson in Event Promotion. Oh Wait, Weren’t They Taught That in Journalism School?

Whatever your political leanings tend to be I’m sure there is one common ground that we can all agree on. And that is that these jokers at the Cable News Network’s need to step back, take a very deep breath, and do their freaking jobs!

Which brings me to our video presentation. Leave it to our good friends at Second City for putting together this spoof on the reaction of a certain CNN producer. Of course at first it looks like he’s going to be King of the world – until of course his people completely screw things up and, well, maybe he’ll be looking for some type of new job (I, for one, am hoping that it’s not in the media industry).

Lesson learned? Stay tuned…

Sometimes the Job of an Event Planner Feels like You Just Can’t Get to the Finish Line (Comedy Video)

event planner can't get to the finish line

Have you ever had one of those dreams where you are trying to run away from something, or trying to catch something, and you just can’t seem to get there fast enough? I’m sure many event planners out there can relate to that.

Which brings me to the video below. From our friends at “Just for Laughs ” (similar to the old Candid Camera Show) we present a video where unsuspecting people think they are taking an elevator to a specified floor only to be frustrated when they seem to reach every floor but the one they want.

So take a break, sit back and enjoy a little chuckle. But I’m sure, as you watch the video, you can’t help thinking “this is sometimes a typical day for an event planner”.

Wedding Planning – In a Word or Two: Be Prepared!

cute sock monkey bride and groom

Photo courtesy of Corinna A. Carlson

The big day has arrived. He proposed and you said yes and a rousing round of congratulations a waits! You are floating on cloud nine and you should be, but wait now the actual work begins. Let’s face it, most women (and some men) dream and plan for this most special day, the wedding day to arrive. It’s funny how some people long for this day; they start wishing and dreaming and planning for this time in life at a very early age. My sister just couldn’t wait; growing up it was all about the wedding literally all the time. I promise you by the time she was eighteen I (yes me) could rattle off so many of her wedding details; the venue, time of year, wedding size, wedding decor, dress, cake and even where she wanted to go on her honeymoon.

Wedding Planning –  Wishing and Dreaming and Planning….

Whether you are a person that has longed for the wedding day to arrive or not, lots goes into planning this extra special day. And when the time does finally get here it will speed by faster that you can say “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”. The best way to have the day you dreamed of is as the boy scouts always say be prepared. The foundation to a great wedding is to be yourself, be realistic, budgeting, ask for advice, don’t be afraid to delegate and yes be prepared. It is never too soon for the wedding planning to begin and whether you are working with a wedding planner or spearheading all the details yourself, utilizing a wedding planning checklist will be a huge (HUGE) help. By writing down everything and tracking each and every single item, you will be sure to not miss any details.

Wedding Planning – Don’t Forget to Enjoy!

Once all those oh so important decisions have been made and the wedding planning and organizing has been completed that can mean only one thing -  the big day is here. So now is the time to relax, enjoy and have fun, right! I know what you’re thinking, so, so easy for me to say. Relax…no way is that possible! As we have blogged here many a time, with so much that goes into planning a wedding something is bound to go south (and not in a good way). No matter how many times things are checked and re-check you just never do know what the day will bring. So take a breath, don’t blow a casket and really once the wedding is here there isn’t much you can do about it. Even my sister with all her pre wishing and dreaming and planning had some hiccups, the venue was tardy in setting up and the band was late, to name just a few. But she had it in her mind that no matter what happened she was going to go with the flow, not stress out and had every intention to enjoy this time. And you know what she did exactly that.

Ready for a chuckle? Thanks to our friends at YouTube this video proves you really just never do know.

The take away is things most always never go as planned. So remember to enjoy this special day and bear in mind that a wedding is only one day but a marriage lasts a lifetime! So be sure to take it all in and have fun during this extra special moment of joy!

Event Planning-Why Can’t We All Just Get along

event planning with Barack Obama and Mitt Romney

Have you ever had one of those days where it seems every time you ask a supplier or colleague a question you keep getting pushed back? I’m sure you have those days where you want to run to the top of the mountain and just scream your lungs out. But, that’s what God invented wine for.

I used to have the saying – that I would enjoy working with people if people weren’t involved. Now we all know that in the world of event planning a large part of our job is relying on the competence of other people. That’s why this industry can be a nail biting experience for a lot of people.

The Current Do-Nothing Congress Is an Example of What Not to Do in Event Planning

do-nothing Congress

Lately, in the US, it seems that nothing is getting done in yet another do-nothing Congress. These people (I just can’t use the word adult and Congress in the same sentence) seem more hell-bent on obstructing legislation just because the other side brought it to the floor. If you look at the way our government works and compare it to the event planning industry you can easily see how our political system is truly dysfunctional. Comparing Congress to event planners, Congress fails miserably. After all, isn’t it their job to make sure that events (and in Congress’s case the events are the day-to-day running of the country) are executed properly? It’s not that I’m saying there shouldn’t be any debating – quite the contrary. Debating any potential legislation is exactly what we need so that, in the end, hopefully the best gets past.

Unless you’re living under a rock you know that this is a presidential election year here in the US. Which got me wondering wouldn’t it be nice, just for once, to see Barack Obama and Mitt Romney plan an event and get along. Well, apparently NBC’s Jay Leno thought the same thing. Albeit in a humorous way.

So take a look at the video below. Here you’ll see Mitt Romney and Barack Obama having a good time doing the remix of “Call Me Maybe”. Okay so maybe it’s not really them together, but one can wish can’t I?

Contract Negotiation-and You Thought a Meeting Planner Had It Tough (Comedy Video)

Contract negotiation is a major part of a meeting planner’s job. Naturally, some meeting planners like doing these negotiations more than others. I guess it really depends on the personality type. One thing that’s certain is that anyone entering into negotiations any type had better be prepared.

Which got me thinking, for this post, imagine if God had to negotiate for the contract to create Earth. What would be his closing pitch? What areas would he be willing to walk away from in order to win the contract? Well, watch below as our friends from Funny or Die present us with a comical approach of how the contract negotiations would have proceeded.
